Hanzi, the title of this piece, refers to the characters used in Chinese writing. This painting grew intuitively from a single piece of calligraphy collage paper I picked up from a fellow artist at an art workshop. As the layers and textures came together, the composition began to evoke the sweeping, monumental presence of the Great Wall of China—a place I’ve long dreamed of visiting. Hanzi is a fusion of inspiration, texture, and imagination, capturing both the elegance of written characters and the grandeur of a landscape that lives in my mind’s eye.
