Blush & Bridle was inspired by my recent attempt at horseback riding lessons on a beautiful Kentucky farm just ten minutes from home. While the lessons are moving slowly, I’ve found a lot of inspiration in the three horses there—each with their own personality and quirky charm.
For this painting, I focused on a close-up of the horse face and kept the palette neutral with pinks, bronzes, and tans to let the subject stand out without distractions.
The piece is painted on a 16 x 24 x 1" canvas board, which gave the painting a solid, structured feel that I really enjoyed working with.
